Can't-miss tip for beating negative thoughts

Do you typically ruminate about the most unfortunate scenario even though it could very well go the opposite way?

Rather than picturing and stressing over the worst possible outcome, why not imagine things turning out favorably for you?

Sure, it doesn't mean they will. And it doesn't mean we should be oblivious to the consequences of our actions or the potential downsides in any given situation.

But pessimism will only work against you, as those negative thoughts that invade the mind will try to convince you that you won't succeed -- that you won't overcome the hurdles life puts on your path.

Never give in to negative thinking!

You might harp on the negative because deep down you sense that if you're too optimistic, you might very well get blindsided -- and let down -- by setbacks.

But here's the thing: You can be pragmatic -- mindful of the pros and cons, the pluses and the minuses -- without allowing negativity to overtake you.

In other words, you can prepare for the worst without necessarily expecting it.

Because when you believe in yourself, you open yourself up to all possibilities.

You may face long odds, but you know full well that it isn't over until it's over.

People have a tendency to envision doom and gloom, only to find that the worst never comes.

When your mind says you can't, tell it "I can."

When your mind says to give up, tell it "No way."

When your mind says you might fail, reply with "I might succeed."

Nothing exerts a more powerful influence over our happiness than our thoughts. Is it any wonder how so many of us regard our minds as our best friend and worst enemy simultaneously?

Positive thoughts yield positive outcomes. You are what you think. So invite thoughts into your mind that lift you up in a big way.

No response from someone IS a response

Make no mistake about it: When you don't get a response from someone -- whether they fail to answer your texts or return your phone calls -- it is  still a response, and a powerful one at that. When a person fails to respond, it's a direct reflection of their interest -- or lack thereof -- in the relationship. Few things are more aggravating than having to hound a partner, friend, or relative for some sort of reply after we've reached out to them. Yes, we get busy from time to time, but that doesn't give anyone the right to leave the other person hanging. A terse text with something like "Been busy, will reach out soon" doesn't say much, but at least it shows some effort to bring the other person up to speed on why they've fallen off the radar. Nothing good could come of a relationship marred by infidelity, right? The heartache, the shock, the feeling of one's trust being violated.  In the short-term, being cheated on can turn one's world upside down. But eventually, there may be a light awaiting the cheated at the end of the tunnel.  If you really think about it, cheaters end up doing us a huge favor.  In their selfishness and disloyalty, they end up showing us that we deserve better.  If you're so unfortunate as to be a victim of such acts of betrayal, you can only hope the cheater is considerate enough to own up to their missteps.  But we all know full well that, in many cases, the cheater is either caught in the act or leaves behind a trail of hints that ultimately culminates in their undoing.
