When someone truly cares about you, they look for reasons to talk to and be with you rather than excuses not to.
Ever heard the saying, "If there's a will, there's a way"?
Someone's effort -- or lack thereof -- is a reflection of their interest in you. Time is our most precious commodity in that it's the only thing we can't get back once it's gone. That being said, if a person chooses not carve out any of that time for you, what they're essentially saying is, "You're not worth my time."
They may insist they really do care about you and want to see you, but they just "don't have the time." Then, a day or so later, they might post pictures of themselves with other people on Facebook, gushing about the great time they're having.
A person's actions always reveal their truest, innermost feelings. Don't believe what people tell you until they've backed those words with their deeds.
If they really are tied up for the time being, they'll at least make an attempt to coordinate a phone call or meeting with you.
So why would they lie?
Perhaps they have a reason for stringing you along. It's possible you've known each other for a long time and, even though they don't seem to value you enough to give you the time of day, they still wish to salvage the relationship. A more sinister reason is that they want to keep you around for the times they need you for favors.
People who want to hold on to you for their selfish ends don't deserve to be in your life. A friendship or romantic relationship is a two-way street. Why put time and energy into something where you're only giving and never receiving?
You deserve love. You deserve attention. You deserve to be listened to. You are worth it. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise. It isn't your problem that they fail to see your worth. Luckily, someone else will, and that's precisely where you should redirect your energies.
