I was raised by my mom, grandma, and two older sisters.
Growing up, never did I ever take any interest in the girls at school who tended toward exposing more skin. I always treated them as I would my female family members -- with the utmost courtesy and respect.
And anytime I suspected that a male friend or acquaintance of mine adopted a hump-and-dump attitude toward women, I nixed them from my life. I held men who treated women as objects in very low regard, and still do to this day.
If women feel empowered to show off their bodies because they love and work hard on their physique, more power to them. In other words, if they're doing it to please THEMSELVES and no one else, good for them.
However, those who do it specifically to curry men's favor are making a big mistake. It sends the wrong signals and actually makes it less likely that a man will want to stick around for a committed relationship (if that's what you want as anyway).
Granted, if you're not looking for anything serious and don't mind being pursued solely for your looks, that's a different matter altogether.
I now have a beautiful daughter who I'm absolutely bonkers for. My goal is to model the type of man I would want her to seek and end up with -- one who values her for her brain and heart above all else.
I'm going to teach her that she doesn't need to bare any skin in order to earn a man's love. In fact, doing so is likely to have the opposite effect, attracting only those guys who don't want anything serious.
The right guy -- at least a decent one -- will never pressure you into sleeping with him before you're ready.
The bottom line is that you should never feel as though you need to exhibit your assets in order to land a good guy.
In fact, guys like me are actually more drawn to women who cover up in public and then, once she's comfortable, let loose in private.
Some people might dismiss my viewpoint as old-fashioned or tinged with feminism. Be that as it may, I don't apologize for being a "relationship guy" who always saw more to women than their mere body parts.
I'm all-in on women's rights and empowerment. At the same time, women need to be conscious of their surroundings and the attention they're attracting. There's no doubt there are some crazy, dangerous characters out there.
