Let's face it: There's no escaping hardship in life.
Whether we're dealing with an impossible project at work or tackling financial issues at home, life has a way of throwing a money wrench at us when least expected.
But this doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing.
Sure, we can feel lost and frustrated at first, but it's critical that we take the long view and realize we can emerge better -- stronger, wiser, more confident -- than before.
And it starts with your mindset.
If you can frame things differently in your mind, it goes a long way toward making it easier for you to surmount the challenge you face.
Rather than meeting a challenge with trepidation, think of it as an exciting test of your will, drive, and mettle.
The former engenders feelings of fear and hopelessness. The latter approach fuels you with energy, motivation, and boldness.
Sure, it isn't foolproof, but ask yourself these questions:
If we didn't have challenges in life, how would we ever grow?
If we never fell, how would we learn to pick ourselves up?
When you look back at times of triumph in your life, have they not been in the midst of crises?
Sometimes such challenges are just what we need to break us out of our comfort zone and spur us to action. If nothing ever needed resolution, we would forever be locked into the status quo, thus inhibiting our growth.
You don't build tenacity in times of peace and quiet. While we certainly need those as well, life would be dull if we couldn't challenge ourselves to think bigger and evolve.
None of us our getting out of here alive anyway, so why not take a risk every now and then?
If the risk of failure holds you back, remember what I've noted in prior posts: You don't fail by not meeting your goal; you fail by not trying at all.
Even if things don't work out as you'd planned -- you turn in the project late and are unable to get promoted, or your financial woes take longer to clean up than expected, making you shelve the Hawaiian vacation you had in mind -- rest assured you'll get back on your feet again with time.
Don't shy away from challenges; face them head on!
If you don't believe in yourself, no one's going to believe in you. So think of this challenge as a wild, bumpy ride that will see you emerging victorious -- no matter what it takes!
One day you'll look back on it all -- stronger, wiser, and better capable to handle future challenges -- and be glad you refused to give up.
Just because there's a storm doesn't mean a beautiful day doesn't lie in wait.
Learn to view challenges not as disruptions that interfere with your happiness, but as facilitators of growth that may very well lead you to an even more enriching life.
