Being single certainly isn't as bad as some make it out to be.
Sure, it's nice to have a partner to hug on Valentine's Day, exchange gifts with during the holidays, and accompany you to work/social functions.

But the reality is that singlehood affords myriad benefits as well, including:
- Not having to deal with a partner's drama.
- Being free to watch whatever you want on TV.
- Not having to compromise on where to eat dinner or which movie to watch at the theater.
- Having more time to enjoy hobbies/solitary pursuits.
- Not having to spend money on your partner.
- Not having to confront meddling in laws.
- Having more time for friends and relatives.
Even if ultimately you do long for a serious relationship, marriage, and the whole kit and caboodle, it doesn't mean you can't capitalize on your freedom.
In fact, it gives you time to scout possible love interests. When you know you're enjoying the single life, you're in no hurry to hook up. It's like searching for a good job while already having a good job.

If it's taking you longer than you expected to find Mr. or Ms. Right, don't get down on yourself.
Instead, put a positive spin on it by reasoning that great things (or, in this case, partners) aren't easy to find, and you refuse to settle for just anyone.
Of course, it shouldn't give you license to become unreasonably picky or conceited.
But that time by yourself can really help you home in on the qualities you desire in a partner, whether it's smarts, a great sense of humor, or someone who's well-traveled.
That being said, if and when anyone in your circle gives you a hard time about your being single, don't feel obligated to explain yourself to them!
It's your choice. And even if you're not single by choice, who are they to intrude in your affairs?
Rest assured you'll find that special individual when the time is right. Until then, make the most of the this time to have fun and enjoy yourself!
