Ever have a day like this, where everything seems to go wrong?
We've all been there. I'm actually in something of a rut as we speak.
When you find yourself stuck in such a rut, the first thing you need to do is calm down. Breathe. Relax. Decompress.
Then, remind yourself that things will get better. It's normal to hit a rough patch every now and then. Sometimes things just don't go in our favor. The sooner you accept that, the quicker you'll get through this phase.
Then, do your best to resolve the problems at hand.
Once you and your spouse have calmed down enough to have a conversation, let him or her know what's on your mind and work together toward a resolution. Keep the lines of communication open. If your partner isn't doing his or her fair share, relationship counseling may be in order.
If you're having car trouble, contact AAA or a reliable friend or relative for assistance. Then probe into why the car left you stranded. If it happens often, you may want to think about trading it in for a newer vehicle.
Facing challenges at work? Talk to your boss. Whether you need an extension to the deadline for a big project or simply a raise, a good boss should be all ears, always willing to work with you to reach some sort of compromise you can both live with. If that isn't feasible, then maybe it's time to start looking for a new job.
Problems that may seem insurmountable at times are usually anything but. We all have tough days we have to trudge through -- it's a part of life.
But being positive goes a long way toward getting yourself out of these jams. You need to take it one day at a time. The world has a way of bringing things back into equilibrium, even if not on the timetable we'd like. Resist the urge to wallow in negativity. Focus on positive things that uplift you.
Keep your head up. Smile. Take comfort in the fact that you're not the only one navigating rough waters. Don't lose hope that things can and will get better. A better day lies in the offing.
