Did you watch the Republican Presidential Debate last night? It made for entertainment television, that's for sure.

Here were a few of my observations:
- The FOX moderators came out swinging, and they especially put Donald Trump on the spot. Some people think the barrage of tough questions asked of Trump signal that right-leaning FOX News is leading the charge to undermine his campaign. The only issue is that Trump could not rule out running as a 3rd party candidate if he were to not win the nomination. If that ends up happening, it'll split the Republican vote, effectively handing the campaign to the Democratic nominee (presumably Hillary Clinton).
- Wouldn't it be something if Trump were in cahoots with one of the parties? I keep thinking whether his entry into the presidential race is part of a furtive scheme concocted with the Democrats to split the vote and get Hillary into the Oval Office. After all, Trump, a former Democrat, was known to cozy up with the Clintons. He admitted that he contributed to Bill Clinton's campaign so he and Hillary would attend Trump's wedding. Or, was this all just a ruse with the Republicans to bring the party much-needed attention?
- While I feel there was no clear victor last night, Marco Rubio, Chris Christie, John Kasich, and Mike Huckabee did a solid job. Scott Walker, Rand Paul, and Jeb Bush were all flat and did little to advance their campaigns. Though I didn't watch the so-called Happy Hour debate that took place earlier in the day, it appears Carly Fiorina did an outstanding job and might see a jump in the polls as a result.)
- I actually applaud Megyn Kelly and the other moderators for coming at the candidates hard. I felt the network lived up to its "Fair and Balanced" slogan, refusing to merely let the candidates sugarcoat issues and praise themselves.
It'll be interesting to see whether Trump's performance has a marked effect on his numbers. If the needle doesn't move in either direction, he'll still have a sizeable lead.

I think Trump's definitely "campaigning" on behalf of Clinton. Possibly the first chivalrous thing he's ever done.
