Sleeping around: Something to celebrate?

I've lost count of the many times I've heard guys in restaurants, bars, stores, and elsewhere boast of the number of women they've slept with.

But is sleeping around something worth bragging about?

Of course not.

If people want to be promiscuous, that's their business. So long as they're protecting themselves and not hurting anyone else, they have the right to do as they please.

But crowing about their sexual conquests in public is, in my view, unacceptable. No one needs to know all the details of one's sex life.

What's more, who's to say that disclosing such information won't come back to haunt you in some way?

Beyond that, patting oneself on the back for all the times they've "scored" comes off as childish, arrogant, and insensitive.

You never know if the friend you're talking to regarding your last one night stand actually knows or dated the person you slept with. Before you know it, things can get awfully sticky (no pun intended).

I think the best policy is to keep matters of a sexual nature private. If you must discuss them with someone, do it in private -- whether at someone's house or in the car.

Some people simply get carried away and fail to consider whether others really want to hear about their sexual escapades. What's more, you never know if there are children around.

Do you agree that it's wrong to divulge such personal details in public?
