My guess is some or all of these come to mind:
- Porn star
- Actor/actress (if kissing or sex scenes are required)
But there are several other professions that people would describe as being off limits. For example, many wouldn't want to date a cop or firefighter because of the dangers posed by such jobs. They'd rather be spared the sleepless nights and find someone with a more conventional job. (Interestingly, there are women would be stoked to date men in uniform, as they find it utterly sexy.)
Similarly, many people prefer not to become romantically involved with someone serving in the military, not only because they worry for their safety, but the long distance presents additional challenges.
But people's misgivings don't stop with jobs of a naughty or dangerous nature. Many take issue with professions that require an inordinate number of hours, from accounting to law and healthcare. While I doubt that anyone would say expressly that they would not date a lawyer or doctor, for example, many people don't like having to share their significant other with their partner's job. This is especially so for those who have kids or are looking to start a family in the near future. If they had it their way, they'd tell their partner to switch to a lower-paying, less demanding field.
And still there are other jobs that are off limits to some people on the basis of principle alone. For instance, some people would not date someone whose work does anything to endanger animals or the environment.
Are there any I missed? Do you disagree with any of them? Which other jobs would be on your blacklist?
And don't miss today's earlier post:
